1. Summer Life Enrichment Program (SLEP)

We are now accepting applications! Welcome to the J. Ashburn Jr. Youth Center’s 2010 Summer Life Enrichment Program (SLEP), June 14th – August 13th from 8:30 – 5:30, Monday through Friday.  We are excited and looking forward to a fabulous summer filled with exciting adventures and opportunities for your children.

We have some great activities planned and look forward to working with both you and your child.  Participants will experience a variety of daily activities including weekly field trips. Children receive a breakfast, lunch and dinner meals. Activities will revolve around this year’s summer theme which is STREAM or,

Science

Technology

Recreation

Engineering

Arts

Math

The program is free to TANF eligible youth.  Otherwise, the program is $90 a week, and we do have a sliding fee scale.

Summer Youth Employment Opportunity

Youth Web Corps is a six week summer job experience for Franklin County TANF-eligible youth, ages 14-18 years old.  This work experience is designed to strengthen students’ web development, project management and professionalism skills and to apply those skills in the authentic task of building a website for a small business or organization located in Franklin County.  

Employment Overview:

  • 6 week summer job experience focused on Web Development

  • Assignment begins:  Monday, June 28, 2010

  • Assignment ends:  Friday, August 6, 2010

  • Work Hours:  8:30am – 12:30am or 1:00pm – 5:00pm (depending on location)

  • 20 hours a week @ $8.00/hour

  • 350 Franklin County, TANF-eligible youth (14-18 years old)

  • Job sites include the TECH CORPS Headquarters

  • Youth will be placed on Project Teams of five youth

  • Project Teams will be responsible for  developing a website for their Client

2. Youth WEB CORPS

Lead the Way and TECH CORPS Ohio have come together again to offer Franklin County Youth an Awesome Summer Employment Opportunity!!!!

Youth WEB CORPS is a six week summer job experience for Franklin County TANF-eligible in-school youth, ages 14-18 years old.  Students work 20 hours/week and earn $8.00/hour.

The experience is designed to strengthen students’ web development, project management and professionalism skills and to apply those skills in the authentic task of building a website for a small business or organization located in Franklin County.

NO PREVIOUS WEB DEVELOPMENT EXPERIENCE IS NECESSARY.

Only a limited number of students will be selected to participate in this program.  Don't delay APPLY TODAY!!!!

Youth WEB CORPS is a TECH CORPS Ohio program administered by Lead the Way and funded by the Central Ohio Workforce Investment Corporation and Franklin County.

We are also hiring Job Coaches with web development experience to work with students - email jobs@techcorpsohio.org for information.
